چکیده

We critically reexamine the precision tests of the standard model by coupling the current world average value of MW with the recent LEP electroweak data with the aid of a modified ZFITTER program to include the dominant two-loop and QCD-EW mixed terms. The results show a clear evidence of nonvanishing electroweak radiative corrections. The recent CDF mt is a solution of the minimal χ-fits to the recent LEP data set and MW = 80.23(18) GeV but with a heavy Higgs scalar, i.e., mt = 179 GeV and mH = 300 GeV. We discuss how sensitive mt and mH are depending on the exact value of MW even within the present uncertainty, as well as on αs and α(MZ). We show how the future improvements on MW can discriminate different values of mt and mH from the electroweak data and provide a crucial and decisive test for the standard model. Electroweak and Top Physics at the Tevatron and Indirect Higgs Limits

We report a selection of the most recent CDF and D0 results on top quark and W and Z boson properties, based on Tevatron Run 2 data. The large datasets of W and Z bosons allow a very precise measurement of the W mass and detailed studies of vector boson production and asymmetries. Associated production of vector boson pairs has been observed and cross sections have been measured. The top quark ...

Dynamical Electroweak Symmetry Breaking in SO(5)×U(1) Gauge-Higgs Unification with Top and Bottom Quarks

An SO(5)×U(1) gauge-Higgs unification model in the Randall-Sundrum warped space with top and bottom quarks is constructed. Additional fermions on the Planck brane make exotic particles heavy by effectively changing boundary conditions of bulk fermions from those determined by orbifold conditions. Gauge couplings of a top quark multiplet trigger electroweak symmetry breaking by the Hosotani mech...

The agreement of electroweak measurements with theory places limits on the masses of the top quark and the W boson. It is shown how these limits arise and what constraints various measurements (particularly a top quark mass determination) would provide on the theory. The degree to which present and future measurements can constrain the Higgs boson mass is examined.

Fit to Electroweak Precision Data

A brief review of electroweak precision data from LEP, SLC, the Tevatron, and low energies is presented. The global fit to all data including the most recent results on the masses of the top quark and the W boson reinforces the preference for a relatively light Higgs boson. I will also give an outlook on future developments at the Tevatron Run II, CEBAF, the LHC, and the ILC. The Higgs boson re...
